Police crack whip on autos flouting rules

Madhapur: Following a large number of complaints from people, the Cyberabad Traffic Police (CTP) conducted a special drive against autorickshaws that did not follow rules as prescribed by the RTO. The special drive was conducted in Madhapur, Kukatpally, Gachibowli & Miyapur areas. Any auto found with extra-seat fitting was detained and handed over to the RTO.

Autos without number plates or without functioning indicators/head lights were also seized. Police officials said that there were a number of complaints from citizens of autos having sound systems. A large number of autos found to be having high decibel sound systems were seized and the extra fittings were removed.

Several autos in the city have been running with irregular number plates which were detained and released only after correction. Autos run by drivers without driving licence were held and a charge sheet would be submitted in court, said the police personnel. 

1. Regular MV Act cases were booked for not wearing uniform, carrying extra passengers, etc.
2. Such special drives will be conducted frequently from now on till there is discipline on roads
