BJP only alternative to TRS, Mahakutami: Muralidhar Rao

Update: 2018-11-24 05:30 IST

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao said that BJP was an indispensable political force in the future politics of Telangana, and it would be the only alternative to Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Congress-led Mahakutami in the State.

Addressing the media here on Friday, he said that the party considers Telangana and its forthcoming Assembly elections as crucial for the party to expand its base in southern States for the upcoming general elections.

Stating that the BJP has been fighting for separate State since the time of Jana Sangh days in 1969, Rao said that 2018 Assembly elections were very important for the future of Telangana against the backdrop of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu trying to stage a comeback in the State to take Telangana politics into his hands, acting as a covert through Congress.

Muralidhar Rao said K Chandrashekar Rao and TRS were harmful to the future development of the State. At the same time, Congress too was not an alternative. The BJP would ensure the future of the State would be “Chandrababu Mukth Telangana”.

Calling TDP “Telangana Dhoka Party”, Rao asked the Congress to reveal the details of letters written by the TDP national president opposing irrigation projects of the State before seeking the support of the people for the Mahakutami.

“Just the way the BJP is taking on the TRS, it will also oppose tooth and nail to the Congress-led anti-Telangana TDP forces to ensure that State politics will not go into the hands of Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.  Condemning the statements of K Chandrashekar Rao against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “Both the TRS and the Congress favoured religious-based reservations.

This was despite the High Court scrapping similar initiative by the Congress to provide 4 per cent religious reservations. Whether KCR writes 30 or 300 letters to the Centre, the BJP will not agree to the designs of the Congress and TRS to provide religious-based reservations and play politics dividing Hindus and Muslims in the country.” He dared the KCR to get his 12 per cent Muslim reservations passed by people through Gram Sabhas in the State.

Muralidhar Rao said that the party will organise 100 plus public meetings across the State in next 10 days to step up party's electioneering. Union Ministers, chief ministers from neighbouring States and other BJP-ruled States will take part in the public meetings, he said. That apart, the BJYM will take door-to-door campaigning exposing the failures of TRS government, he said.
