Ex-CBI official Lakshminarayana joins Lok Satta, likely to contest
Hyderabad: Putting an end to the speculations that he will float a political party aiming to reform the existing political system in Andhra Pradesh, former Joint Director of CBI V V Lakshmi Narayana on Monday joined Lok Satta in the presence of its national president Jayaprakah Narayan.
The Maharashtra cadre IPS officer quit the job and plunged into social service recently. Lakshminarayana shot to fame at the national level after he took over the investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress President YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Satyam IT scam and mining case against the mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.
Declaring his foray into active politics, ahead of elections to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in 2019, Lakshminarayana said that he will fight on people’s issues and also contest the elections depending on the political developments taking place in the State.
As Jayaprakash Narayan is out of the active politics after 2014 elections, leaders said that the bureaucrat turned political leader will take the cudgels and lead Lok Satta in the coming days. Jayaprakash will play the role of mentor to Lakshminarayana. He said that several retired officials, legal luminaries and intellectuals are in touch with him and they are likely to join the Lok Satta in the future.
Telangana Praja Party president Justice Chandra Kumar extended his support to the new Lok Satta leader. Jayaprakash Narayan asserted a big change in the political system ensuring to stop looting public money and serve the people with a long term vision.
