Trust in people, not in yagnas: Modi on KCR’s pujas

Hyderabad: Taking a dig at TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the "chief minister seems to feel so insecure that he would not even trust himself. So, he is relying on the astrologers, performing puja and yagnas, reposing his faith in nimbu-mirchi' omens".

Modi made these remarks during his first election meeting at Giriraj College grounds in Nizamabad here on Tuesday to drive home the point that the TRS chief is seeking divine help to win in the ensuing State Assembly elections than reposing his trust in the people of the State and to project that there is a growing disconnect between the people and the TRS.

The Prime Minister said, "Janata is Janardhan and this belief of the BJP makes it to repose its faith in serving people and trust them.” Contrary to this, the TRS chief who had failed to deliver on his electoral promises and let down the people of the State has only been replicating the Congress culture. Thus, KCR is not bothering about people but only in the family-led rule and to be in power. He also referred how people in Nizamabad have been facing problems due to lack of water, roads and the like.

Reacting to Modi's remarks, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao while addressing the election meeting in Telangana asked how his performing puja, yagna and the like bother the PM. "Yes, I believe in God. I perform puja, yagna and people come and take thirtha. Do my beliefs affecting anyone,” he questioned and added as to why the Prime Minister should bother? “If he wanted, he too can come and take thirtha and go," he pointed out.
