Hyderabad: To mark the centenary year of Sangeetacharya Pt Pratap Narayan ji, the 46th ‘Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh’ will be held from at CCRT in Madhapur from November 30 to December 2, 7:30pm onwards. As always, the 3-day festival brings to music lovers of Hyderabad, performances by the talented musicians. Every year, many music lovers travel to Hyderabad from all over the world to attend this festival.
This year however, it will truly become an international festival – audiences in Hyderabad will witness the first ever live stream performance by an Indian classical vocalist. Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj will perform in New York, which will be streamed live exclusively to the audiences at CCRT, Hyderabad on Friday.
The festival is held in the memory of Pandit Jasraj’s gurus, father Sangeet Ratna Pandit Motiram and his elder brother Sangeet Mahanohopadhya Pandit Maniram. A few hours before Sangeet Ratna Pandit Motiram was to be honoured as the Royal singer in the court of the Nizam, he left for his heavenly abode. At the time, Pandit Jasraj was only 4- year-old. Thus, Pandit Jasraj has a deep emotional bond with the city of Hyderabad. As a musical tribute to his Gurus, Pandit Jasraj began this festival in 1972.
