Azad repents propping up MIM

Update: 2018-11-30 05:30 IST

Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday said that he feels guilty for helping the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) to grow in the State during the past 40-year. Addressing the media, he said that he was one of the leaders who supported the MIM to grow. But it had made a habit to go with a party which was in power, he criticised.

Azad said that MIM leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi have become rich like any other minority leaders in the past 40 years with the help of MIM. It had been contesting in the areas where the minorities are less in numbers to help the BJP win.

He said that voters should send TRS chief and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao home as he desires to take rest. He said that Chandrashekar Rao was the only Chief Minister in India who did not come to the Secretariat. He called upon the people to elect the leaders who work from their offices.

Azad alleged that the TRS and the MIM have been working for the BJP. He said that while they criticise each other in the day time they would have cordial meetings in the evening. Criticising the Chief Minister, he said that Chandrashekar Rao did not keep most of the promises he had made to the people. He said Rao failed to make Dalit as Chief Minister.

He said that the BJP and the TRS are twins as they never keep the promises they made. He said that the Congress had an open alliance with the TJS, the CPI and the Telugu Desam Party and did not have secret pacts like the TRS.

He alleged that the BJP and the MIM use communal politics for their benefit. While the BJP uses Hindu sentiment, the MIM utilises the Muslim card but the Congress seeks support of all the religions.

He predicted that the Congress would win Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. He said that the BJP would lose all the three States where it was in the power. Speaking on the Kashmir he said that while the BJP said that it would prevent deaths of soldiers in the valley if it comes to power, the number of deaths of them have grown during its regime.
