Stop scaring minorities in the name of BJP: Rajnath to KCR, Naidu

Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh asked Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to play politics for the nation building and development of their respective States than with the sole objective of coming to power. Rajnath Singh asked them not to scare minorities in the name of the BJP, as the party policy is to empower everyone in the country.

The Union Minister said that there is no dearth of human and natural resources as well as skills in Telangana. But it was only lack of a strong resolve of will on the part of State government. He said that the Centre has given about Rs 1.15 lakh crore to the State under the 14th Finance Commission, and asked TRS chief, as to, why the State development could not pick up pace and poverty is not going down? “It was to divert people’s attention from the issues of development, the issue of reservations on the basis of religion has been brought forth,” he alleged.

Rajnath Singh asked the TRS chief, “if you want to give reservations to the minorities, then, whose quota of reservations are you going to cut? Also, is there any provision in the constitution to provide religious-based reservations?  Can you bring an amendment to the constitution for this?” He advised both the Chief Ministers that politics should be played to address issues of injustice and humanity, but not on the basis of caste, creed, sect or religion to come to power. Rajnath Singh said that the BJP cannot make promises like producing potatoes in a factory like Congress president Rahul Gandhi as it is possible to make such promises only by the Congress.

Terming the Congress and the TDP joining hands an unholy alliance, he said there is no other objective for both except to stop the BJP and Modi. The Congress promised a mobile factory in every district. But, only two mobile factories were established during the 55 years of the Congress rule. But, 120 mobile factories were established in the country during the last four and half years of Modi's government, he claimed.  He said that the country has been strong more than ever before in the last four and half years, besides India is recognised as the fast-growing economy in the world.  “We are seeking the support of people of the State, to make strong and developed Telangana,” he said. Rajnath promised recruitment of one lakh jobs, farm loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh to farmers, Rs 2,000 pension to every one of more than 60 years of age.
