BJP has its roots in Warangal long ago
Warangal: The BJP has a huge support in the erstwhile Warangal district, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, speaking at an election rally in support of party candidate Marthineni Dharma Rao here on Friday.
He said that long ago, BJP candidate Chandupatla Janga Reddy defeated senior Congress leader PV Narasimha Rao, who later became Prime Minister. In 1984 general elections, BJP won only two Lok Sabha seats – one of them is Hanamkonda (no more the constituency exists after delimitation in 2008).
He appealed to people to support the BJP so that they would witness a speedy development. He recalled that Central Government had included Warangal city in the Smart cities Mission in addition to the development through Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), and Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY).
BJP has done a lot for the benefit of farmers, he said, referring to the reduction of price of fertilisers. The BJP is determined to double the income of the farmers by 2022, he said.
During the 13th Finance Commission the Congress government gave only Rs 16,500 crore for Telangana but in the 14th Finance Commission the BJP gave 1.5 lakh crore, he said, criticising the TRS government. The Home Minister alleged that KCR is trying to divert the attention of the people by raking up the minority reservation issue. “The alliance of TDP-Congress is unholy,” he said, stating that people are against it.
