Congress trying to re-enact 1956-like situation, charges Harish Rao
Hyderabad: Caretaker Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday alleged that the Congress party was trying to bring 1956-like situation by aligning with Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Addressing a press conference here, Harish Rao said that he was speaking not as a TRS leader but as a person who was part of Telangana agitation.
He alleged that the Congress party merged Telangana into Andhra Pradesh because the left parties were dominant here and today the Congress is hatching the same conspiracy. He said that it was ‘Mahakutami’ for namesake but there are only two political parties in it including Congress and Telugu Desam. They have made Kodandaram a mascot.
Harish Rao alleged that the Telangana would have been carved out 18 years ago but was delayed only because of Chandrababu Naidu. BJP senior leaders like Lal Krishna Advani, Yeshwant Sinha and others had told that they could not got give Telangana because of the TDP chief. Chandrababu even prohibited use of Telangana word in the Assembly, he alleged.
Harish Rao further alleged that the Congress is now left with united Andhra Pradesh protagonists. These Congress leaders maintained silence when N Kiran Kumar Reddy said he will not give single rupee to Telangana. Welcoming the decision of High Court on Palamur-Rangareddy project, Harish Rao demanded apology from Congress chief Rahul Gandhi. The judgment of High Court clears that all the allegations on the project were bogus, said Rao.
