All India rural crafts mela concludes

Rajendranagar: The All India Rural Crafts Mela, an annual event organised by the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), concluded on Monday. Rural craftsmen from 18 states took part in the fair. Several items such as  handicrafts, handlooms and ready-made garments, khadi and village industries products, medicinal and aromatic products, leather goods, toys, decorative items, processed traditional food items, wood carvings, brassware, fashion and tribal jewellery and solar energy based applications / products were on display. In addition, few food stalls were also set up with veg and non- veg items. 

The Rural Technology Park (RTP) has been playing host to the mela since 2003 with an aim to provide a platform to showcase rural innovations & technologies, crafts, handlooms & handicrafts, diversified art & culture of rural India. The rural entrepreneurs have been showcasing products from across India. The recent mela was the 16th edition. The people from Kashmiri stalls were a happy lot. Ali Md Bhat, from Kashmir valley said that he along with others have been visiting Hyderabad. They had brought home made shawl, sleeveless- jacket, etc., as cloth wares and as fruits wall-nut, apples.
