Snub Yogi through ballot: Kanhaiya

Charminar: Condemning the statements made by UP’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who tried to link all the terrorist attacks to Hyderabad, Former President of JNU Students' Union Kanhaiya Kumar urged the ‘Hyderabadis’ to answer him through ballot.

Addressing a public meeting organised by the Praja Kutami (People’s Front) at Charminar on Tuesday, he described Yogi’s statements as an attack on the self respect of the Hyderabadis, who are known for establishing communal harmony. He said that with the kind of statements the BJP politician made, he was trying to denigrate the city and its population to mere ‘terrorists’. “If anybody dares to give similar statements in Bihar, they would face the consequences. But Yogi has dared to come up with this kind of statements only because of the support from a local party,” he said.

Referring to the latest report of national English daily, Kanhaiya Kumar said that Prime Minister Modi no longer had the charisma that can pull people in hoards. He pointed out at the details of survey conducted by the BJP and RSS published in the newspaper and said that since it was realised that Modi was an ‘obsolete coin’, the right-wing groups tried to rake up the issue of ‘Ram Mandir,’ but failed to attract attention of general population. “Since the survey results showed that Modi was no longer saleable, and people were not ready to listen to his falsehood, they decided to cash in the worn-out issue of temple, he said. They could not even stimulate hundred men on the streets of Delhi. In Hyderabad, he addressed in a stadium rather than in an open ground,” he said.

Kanhaiya said that the TRS was trying to sell its manifesto by packaging it as ‘old wine in new bottle.’ The manifesto doesn’t have anything new and it consists of all the unfulfilled promises that they now promise to achieve, be it 12 per cent reservation to Muslims, 3-acre land to dalits and tribals. “They remain completely silence over Rohit Vemula’s death, and there was no promise that minorities would be treated as equals and that would not be threatened,” he said.

The Charminar MLA candidate from Praja Kutami, Mohammed Ghouse, tried to link MIM with BJP by referring to the way the MIM had fielded 24 candidates from Seemanchal during Bihar elections, compared to just 8 in Hyderabad. “MIM has proved to be B-Team of BJP, as it only helped BJP garner votes through polarisation by contesting in Bihar and other states,” he alleged.
