Election staff lock polling booth to take lunch in Suryapet
Tungaturthi ( Suryapet): Following their regular habit of having lunch leisurely and after a nap, the election staff of two polling staff in Suryapet district locked the polling booth and went away for lunch.
Voters at 291 polling station located at the Government Mandal Parishad Primary School in Tirumulgiri of Tungaturthi constituency in the district expressed their resentment when the election officers shut the polling booth for lunch and went away for meal.
The people who visited the polling centre were shocked after seeing the locked polling centre. They captured the picture of the locked polling centre and shared it on social media.
Similar scene was also witnessed at the polling station number 213 located at Government Zilla Parishad High School in Velugupally village of Tungaturthi mandal in the same Tungaturthi constituency.
Voters were forced to wait outside the polling booth till polling was resumed after the respective responsible staff completed their lunch and rest.
According to sources, after getting reports from the officials concerned, the District Election Officer and Collector Surendra Mohan is likely to take stringent action against the erring staff of both Velugupally and Tirumalagiri polling stations.
