Khammam people participate in elections with enthusiasm

Khammam: The Legislative Assembly elections which began at 7 am in all the five assembly segments in the Khammam district concluded at 5 pm in a peaceful atmosphere on Thursday.

As many as 1,305 polling booths were set up in five Assembly constituencies out of which web-casting was done in 688 polling booths and CCTV cameras were installed in 331 polling stations where polling was held on a smooth note amid tight security arrangements.

In five constituencies in the district 71 percent of voters cast their votes.

The detail of the polling percentage in constituencies: 

The caretaker Roads and Buildings Minister and Paler TRS nominee Tummala Nageswara Rao utilised his voting right in  Gollegudem village in Khamma rural mandal and Congress candidate from Madhira Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka cast his vote at polling booth number 165  in Madhira.

Whereas District Collector RV Karnan, Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal, MLC's Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and Balasani Lakshminarayana, former MP Renuka Chowdhary, TRS nominee Puvvada Ajay Kumar and former MP and Mahakutami TDP nominee Nama Nageswara Rao cast their votes in Khammam city.

In five constituencies, the contest appears to be mainly between the TRS and the Congress which formed ‘Mahakutami’ (People’s Front) with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) and Communist Party of India (CPI).

The TRS fielded three sitting MLA’s from Khammam, Palair and Wyra Assembly constituencies whereas the Mahakutami had two sitting MLA’s one from Madhira (Congress) and the other from Sattupalli (TDP) in the Khammam district.
