Hyderabad: State BJP said that it welcomes the Supreme Court’s decision of dismissing Telangana State government’s plea to hike the percentage of reservations. State BJP chief spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao on Friday said that the saffron party has taken a consistent stand on increasing the percentage of reservations over and above fixed by the apex court.

However, the State government, led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, had gone ahead in passing a resolution in the State Assembly to provide 12 per cent reservations to Muslim minorities, along with the Schedule Tribes in the State. Despite knowing well, the TRS chief had gone ahead as part of the TRS appeasement politics. And, thus, wanted to enhance to an overall 67 per cent of reservations in Telangana, he said. He termed the apex court’s decision rejecting the plea a slap in the face of the TRS government.
