Villagers protest as over 1,000 names missing from voters list in Wanaparthy district

Wanaparthy: The villagers of Buddaram village of Gopalpet mandal in Wanaparthy district came on to the roads protesting against the apathy of officials for deleting more than 1,000 votes from their village.  With majority voters were not able to find their names on the voters list, they expressed displeasure at the election officials for their highhandedness for deleting the genuine votes from the list. Over this, the villagers grew angry and resorted to stage a protest by blocking the main high way connecting Jadcherla to Wanaparthy. 

 Gopalpet Sub inspector of Police intervened and tried to convince the protesters. But the villagers were never relenting to the request to of the SI and further intensified their agitation. After receiving the information Wanaparthy Superintendent of Police Apoorva Rao intervened and tried to pacify the agitators. However, when they did not relent to the request of the SP, the police took action and arrested two persons for creating the problem. Later, the people were dispersed them from the scene and the polling process continued without any disturbance.

Similar in Ketepally village of Pangal mandal also witnessed similar protests, where more than 100 people came on to the roads complaining of deletion of their names from the voters list, however, the police pacified them and convinced them not to create any problems in the polling process and let the election process go smoothly.
