BJP will not extend support to TRS: Krishna Saagar Rao

Update: 2018-12-11 05:30 IST

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit chief official spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao on Monday said that the according to the official stand of the party, it will not extend support to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

Addressing media, he dismissed the report of the party extending its support to the TRS as a mere speculation. He said, “We have not said either the outcome will be a hung or not. Statement of the State party president Dr K Laxman had been misread resulting in the speculation.

Also, the party had organised 379 public meetings and conducted an extensive election campaign, targeting the ruling TRS government in the State. How can one expect us to extend our support to the TRS,” he questioned.

Against this backdrop, Rao said that the question of support to the TRS will not arise. The verdict of people will be out on Tuesday, if they give us mandate then we will form the government as we have capable leadership locally to run it. If people ask us to sit in the Opposition this time, we will respect their verdict, he added. “The TRS leaders have gone to say that they are rejecting the support of the BJP to their party. But when did the BJP offer its support to the TRS?” he asked.

Referring to the statement made by BJP leader Purandeswari on the party support to TRS, he said, “It is her personal opinion and the party’s stand is clear that it will not extend its support.” Further, it is hypothetical to talk about anything now and the party will play its role as demanded by the people's verdict and nothing more. But the party hopes that the people's verdict will be a slap on the face of the Congress and TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy will get no opportunity to shave his beard, he said.

Besides, the TDP will have to pack its bags and go to Amaravati and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu will have to lock the doors of his house in Nampally, he added. Stating that the TDP chief is engaged in survival politics, Rao termed the Congress is scared of the results and thus went to meet Governor E S L Narasimhan and is finding fault with the EVMs. Similarly, Congress working president A Revanth Reddy also lost his mind.

He said the non-BJP parties meeting at Delhi was an undemocratic, opportunist alliance of disparate parties to fight against one person (Narendra Modi) but not BJP which is a national political party. This situation exposes who are weak and people will reject the unholy alliance. Questioning as to why the parties are scared of Income Tax raids if they are clean, Rao said that formation of an alliance is to seek an insurance certificate against their misdeeds, he said.
