Excise Department conducts 2,504 raids

Ranga Reddy: The Excise Department conducted 2,504 raids since the Election Model Code of Conduct was imposed for Telangana State Assembly elections. It resulted in confiscation of several items including cash, liquor bottles and crude weapons. 1,011 licensed arms were deposited in the district. 1,634 non-bailable warrants were executed. The removal of defacements from the public property touched 44,991 and from private properties it was 8,984. 

As far as misuse of vehicles (Beacon, light, Flag), violation of loudspeaker Act, illegal meeting /speech etc, inducement/ gratification to electors/cash, kind distribution and others accounted for 140 cases. The total value of items seized by the police department was Rs 31,04,500/- and seizure of illicit liquor bottles stood at 2209.41 litres. The seizure of liquor by excise officials stood at 30107.12 litres.
