Bhatti makes hat-trick in Madhira
Madhira: The Congress party which received shock with the results and with the defeat of some of main leaders of party sighed a relief with sitting MLA and TPCC Campaign Committee chairman Malllu Bhatti Vikramarka winning the Madhira Assembly seat for the third consecutive time in the elections that held on December 7.
Bhatti defeated Lingala Kamal Raj of BLF with a margin of 3,567 votes. Madhira Assembly constituency which falls under Khammam Lok Sabha constituency, is formed in 1952 and is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC)in 2009. It is spread across Madhira, Chintakani, Mudigonda, Bonakal and Yerrupalem mandals. Congress won the Assembly seat eight times and CPM five times since 1952.
The former TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka represented it twice. Madhira is known as the land of freedom fighters and intellectuals such as Sardar Jamalapuram Kesava Rao and Bommakanti Satyanarayana Rao. Madhira is only town in erstwhile Khammam district which witnessed the arrival of Mahatma Gandhi during freedom fighting in the year 1946, in February.
Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka who continued his winning race to make it a hat-trick claimed that various developmental activities that took place in the constituency during his tenure as an MLA and being endeared himself to the people of Madhira since last ten years played key role in his victory.
It is to be noted that in 2014 elections, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka contesting on a Congress ticket defeated L Kamal Raj of CPM candidate with a margin of 12,329 votes.
