GHMC staff told to ramp up tax revenue
Hyderabad: M Dana Kishore, Commissioner at GHMC, directed all zonal and deputy commissioners to take up the new and unassessed properties on priority basis. A review meeting has been conducted with all the ZCs and DCs, AMOHs with regard to property tax collection. Tax collection should be taken up on war-footing basis, as the revision of electoral rolls will be starting again from January 1. So, top priority has to be given to the collection of property tax, said the commissioner.
The Commissioner stated that from the last 3 months the entire GHMC staff was on election duty and no collection of property tax was taken up. In this contest, the Commissioner instructed all the tax officials to concentrate more on new and unassessed properties for the improvement of the tax collection to reach the target assigned. The commissioner will be interacting with all the tax officials on daily basis to have a proper coordination for the improvement of property tax collection. So far, the GHMC has collected Rs. 745 crore. Another Rs 755 crore has to be collected to reach the target of Rs. 1500 crore for the financial year 2018-19.
