South Central Railway secures six national awards
Hyderabad: Measures such as LED lighting, energy efficient inverter type star rated AC units, HVAC control & temperature monitoring, switching off AC units during idling hours, energy savers and occupancy sensors, provision of natural day light pipes, use of solar energy for water heating & electricity generation, timers for water coolers/rolling examination lights and other initiatives have stood the South Central Railway in good stead. In the conservation awards by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency/Ministry of Power, SCR bagged as many as six awards in various catergories.
Sumitra Mahajan, the Lok Sabha Speaker, presented the first prize to passenger reservation system office complex to A A Phadke, the principal chief electrical engineer, and Amit Varadan, the divisional railway manager of Secunderabad, at a function held in New Delhi on Friday. ‘Certificate of Merit’ awards were presented to Rail Nilayam/Secunderabad, Hyderabad Bhavan (DRM office/HYB) in office buildings under State PWD, CPWD & PHED sector and to Hyderabad railway station, Kazipet railway station and Nizamabad railway station in railway stations sector. These awards are in recognition of its achievements in the area of energy conservation. The factor for determining the energy efficiency is energy consumption.
