Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu to open Hyd Book Fair today
Musheerabad: 92nd Hyderabad National Book Fair, to be held at Telangana Kalabharathi (NTR stadium) from December 15 to 25, will be inaugurated by Vice president of India Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday. Telangana state tourism department principal secretary Burra Venkatesam, state BC commission chairman BS Ramulu, book fair president Juluri Gourishankar and secretary Chandra Mohan monitored the arrangements made for the book fair on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkatesam promised to make efforts to attract more youth to book show this year. He said that India stands number one in the number book readers although many can’t afford to buy books. He urged the governments to promote book reading at village, mandal and district levels to make India a knowledge society. He suggested conducting of book festival and literary festival simultaneously. He said that Hyderabad book fair has grown by the years and hoped that this year more people would visit the book fair. He wished that the book fair reach the levels of the noted book fairs at New Delhi, Jaipur and Kolkata.
Juluri Gouri Shankar said that CM K Chandrashekar Rao himself is an avid reader of books and has been providing great support to the book fair. The book fair is expected to have around 300 stalls and both national and international book companies are expected to exhibit their books.
