Ruhaan to cut his next album soon
Hyderabad: Rapping a la Baba Sehgal, ‘Miya Bhai Hyderabadi’a rap song by Ruhaan Arshad, 21, is making waves on social media and is getting huge response from not just cities in India but also from Dubai and Turkey. A musical form based on rhyme, rhythm and words from the streets has caught the imagination of people. On every social platform and more than 2.5 lakh people has made a TikTok video on Miya Bhai song and tagged Ruhaan. His video on YouTube achieved 7.1 million views, 13,330 comments till December 16 and increasing every day.
His friends Taufeeq and Azeez handle the camera crew and have taken cameras on rental basis. The rap song ‘Hyderabadi Miya Bhai’was made at a nominal cost of Rs 25,000. The rapper, coming from middle-class family,has taken inspiration from the culture and uses various aspects of Hyderabad ensuring that the listener feels local flavour in the song. Speaking with The Hans India reporter, Ruhaan said that he makes sure that the listener gets a feel of Hyderabad. Within three weeks, ‘Miya Bhai Hyderabadi’ rap song has gone viral. “I have an understanding of what people need and it has to be a major connection between lyrics and the city, my next song would be ‘Hyderabad Zindabad’ the entire lyrics will be on secularism.”
“In the city, religious intolerance is rising, and the song would be based on unity and living in harmony. ‘Rubab hairubabhai Hyderabad kenawaabmiya bhai kiawaazgalligalli zindabad, rubabhairubaabhaimiya bhai kishaanhai hindumusalmaanhai’. The aim is to foster a sense of unity, he adds. The song acquires attention from all the segments of the society for its music, lyrics, and representation of specific Hyderabadi culture. The song also highlights the unity among Hindu and Muslim population in the State.
He later said, “While uploading this song I thought that I will receive 1 lakh views in one month but the very next day of my video uploading, I got 3 lakh views. “My journey started in 2017 with dubbing the Bollywood songs into Hyderabadi style. I received negative popularity, people commented that ‘Dhinchak Pooja ka Bhai’ but one of my friends told me ‘blame hai to fame hai’ and that has given me courage and made this song which got much more response than I expected. I am receiving good response from Turkey, Pakistan, Dubai, Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa.”
