Tribal people very existence at stake

Kapra: Illegal digging and transportation of red soil from Kandanelli tanda in the mandal by R&B contractors has been causing serious concerns over tribal people’s existence. The local people are complaining that contractors from Vikarabad are illegally transporting the soil from the land bearing survey numbers 275 and 276 for road construction works. The tribal people allege that the soil grabbers are carrying out the illegal activities using JCB, hi-tech machines without any permission from the department concerned. They lamented that officials of revenue and mining departments were refusing to take action against the accused though they made several complaints. 

Jaago Banjara state president Surender Naik alleged that officials were least bothered about the issues as they were receiving bribes from the contractors like Lakshmikanth Reddy and Vishnuvardhan Reddy. The tribal people have been utilising the lands to feed their livestock. Also, wildlife including peacocks and rabbits is abundant there. The illegal act of the contractors is leading to the damage of bio-diversity and ecological balance. Naik said that they would approach the District Collector to seek justice to the tribal thanda from the selfish contractors.
