Discom staff urge Superintendent Engineer to redress grievances

Update: 2018-12-18 05:30 IST

Rajendra Nagar: Revitalized after the TRS had retained to power with a huge majority, the members of Telangana Electricity Employees 1104 Union, under the leadership of DISCOM Additional Secretary M Bhaskar Reddy, met the Superintendent Engineer of Rajendra Nagar Circle Murali Krishna on Monday, and introduced the newly-elected members of the union to him. This is the first time for newly-elected body of ‘1104 union’ to meet with the SE after the recently concluded elections.

The delegation requested the SE to call for a PNC meeting of the employees to discuss various issues and put a watertight case before the government to ensure settlement of all their demands, as the electricity department has worked in tandem to ensure adequate power supply to all the segments of the consumers in the state in its last term, which is also considered as the first successful term of the TRS government in terms of power supply. Bhaskar Reddy introduced the newly-elected members of the ‘1104 union’ with the SE, who in turn responded positively to their request of PNC meeting and promised to extend all possible help in making arrangements for the proposed event. He even assured the delegation that he would bring all their issues and demands to the notice of higher officials soon to ensure that they get resolved amicably.

What made the employees meet the official is the promise made by the government prior to the elections, wherein it considered fulfilling all their demands soon after retaining the power. The demands included increasing the retirement age from 58 to 61 years for the employees, regularizing services of artisans (contract labourers), clearing of pending promotions besides pensions, gratuity, and GPF issues of the retired employees. The employees are optimistic about the next meeting with the government, and according to them the meeting would bring cheers to them in the form of fulfillment of their long-pending demands.
