95% Muslims voted for TRS in Assembly elections: Mahmood Ali
Hyderabad : Home Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali said that Telangana Rashtra Samithi was able to retain power in the recently held Assembly elections as almost 95% of Muslims have voted in favour of TRS party.
Addressing the first Press Conference after taking over the charge as Home Minister at Secretariat on Thursday, the Home Minister said that the opposition (Mahakutami leaders) including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy have made wild allegation against the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao while calling him an agent of BJP in the campaign. But the Muslims have rejected them and voted in favour of TRS which led the party to bag 88 seats. He said two independent MLAs have also joined the TRS which took the party's strength in 119-member Assembly to 90.
Mahmood Ali said that the Chief Minister has worked for the development of minorities by allocating a budget of Rs. 2,000 crores for their welfare. He said more funds would be allocated in future and more schemes would be taken for the development of Muslims. He said there was no comparison for leadership of KCR and KTR in the entire country. All the previous Chief Ministers in the combined Andhra Pradesh State have said that if the Telangana State was formed, there would be problem of naxalites and Law and Order menace. They also warned of shortage of energy. However, all these apprehensions were proved wrong as KCR took Telangana on the path of development. He said presently Telangana was growing at a pace of more than 20%.
The Home Minister said that the crime rate has declined by more than 50% after formation of Telangana and this would be brought down further. He said his main aim would be to further reduce the crime rate and ensure that people live in peaceful manner and promote Ganga Jamuni Tahzeeb. He also said that the Telangana police have earned a good name due to its people-friendly policing and this would be strengthened further.
