IIIT-H to train youth in entrepreneurship
Hyderabad : CIE (Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship) of IIIT Hyderabad has invited applications for its Entrepreneur-In-Residence (EIR) programme. The program is supported by, NIDHI-EIR Scheme of Department of Science and Technology (DST). National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) is an umbrella programme for nurturing ideas and innovations (knowledge-based and technology-driven) into successful startups. NIDHI-EIR Scheme of DST, enables entrepreneurs to leverage research output from IIIT – H’s labs leading to deep tech startups with social or commercial applications.
The selected EIR would be given a stipend up to a sum of Rs 30,000 per month for about 12 months. Selected EIR will also receive access to mentors and investors. The EIR is open to full–time founders working on deep tech ideas. The application deadline is January 10. Commenting on this unique EIR fellowship, YV Prakash, EIR programme lead, said, “We see this as a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to leverage two decades of research of IIIT-Hyderabad and create high growth businesses in tech space” CIE is a DST approved incubator operational since 2009.
It has so far supported around 160 startups and has seed- funded 18 startups, 80 percent of which are cash positive. CIE@IIITH was also instrumental in being the kiln of the initiatives that culminated into the foundation of T-Hub. Along with developments in Avishkar, CIE@IIITH is also focusing on turning a new leaf in terms of infrastructure facilities, programmes and startup engagements focusing towards building a deep tech startup ecosystem. New working spaces are launched, seed funding programmes, structured workshops and mentoring opportunities and technology transfer facilitation are also being deployed now.
