Upcoming buildings near water bodies to get NOCs in a week

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Thursday asked officials to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to buildings which would come up beside tanks, ponds and reservoirs located under its limits within one week of receipt of the applications seeking the same. He said that the State government had recently issued GORT No 633 for abolishing the practice of approaching Irrigation and Revenue departments to obtain their permission for such constructions and replaced it with a committee.

The HMDA Commissioner was addressing the first meeting of the committee held at the HMDA office. The Committee comprises Joint Collectors belonging to the districts that fall under HMDA limits. Chief Engineer of irrigation department, director of HMDA urban forestry wing and other officials are its members. The Commissioner presided over the meeting.

The committee took up scrutiny of 43 applications received from Medchal-Malkajgiri district and seven each from Ranga Reddy and Sangareddy and three applications from Yadadri-Bhongir district. Of these applications, six have been disposed of by the committee on the same day. Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner asked the committee members to dispose of the remaining applications within a week.  The committee members assured the Commissioner that they would dispose of them before the deadline. The planning director of HMDA Srinivias and others were present in the meeting.
