Agriculture Polytechnic inaugurated at Tandur

Tandur: “We have been losing the fertility of the soil and the land due to excessive use of chemicals and pesticides, at least wake up now and switch to organic farming,” said Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Ramanuja Chinnajeer Swamy. He along with Union Minister for Petroleum Dharmendra Padhan, ONGC HR Director Alka Mittal, participated in the inauguration of Agriculture Polytechnic here at Ekalavya Organic Farm Research Centre in Jinkurti on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Chinnajeer Swamy exhorted farmers to take up agriculture with available resources. He wished the institution would become successful and ideal centre.

The Union Minister emphasised the importance of organic farming. He said the government would encourage organic farming throughout the country. He said it was the time to stop using chemical fertilisers which damage our environment and food. Pradhan said that an 800-year old Vinayaka idol was found in the campus and a committee was constituted to build a temple here. RSS National Karyavahak Bhagayya suggested that there was a need to prepare seeds and pesticides in order to discourage chemical fertilisers. Keeping the need of organic farming, an organic agriculture polytechnic was established for the first time, he said. He said that a ‘Krishi Vignana Kendra’ was established in 30 acres in Medak. 

ONGC representative Alka Mittal expressed happiness over setting up organic agriculture centre in association with Ekalavya organisation. She said the programme would be extended further to other areas so that farmers in those regions would also get benefitted. They went around the campus and inspected rooms and fields. They appreciated the president Venugopal Reddy for maintaining the centre with perfection. Heir of Subhash Chandra Bose Arthendu Bose, Raja of Chandapur, in UP Koushalendra Sinh, NIRD director WRP Reddy, Tandur MLA Rohith Reddy, RDO Venumadhava Rao, MPTC Balamani, municipal chairperson Sunitha Sampath, Congress leaders Uttamchand, Janardhan Reddy, Vijay, G Ramreddy, BJP leaders Krishna Mudiraj, Vijaykumar Patel, Shetty Ramesh, Anajaneyulu were present.
