KTPS 800 MW phase- VII unit commissioned for commercial production

Kothagudem: The 800 MW phase- VII unit of Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS) located at Paloncha in Bhadradri Kothagudem district has been commissioned for commercial production.

The super critical thermal power unit has reached its full capacity generation and commercial operation date (COD) on Wednesday, informed the TSTRANSCO and TSGENCO chairman and managing director (CMD) D Prabhakar Rao.

During a late night press briefing after achieving the COD he said the unit was lit on Sunday for a full capacity generation for 72 hours. And the unit has successfully reached its capacity generation without any glitches.

It might be noted that KTPS phase-VII was constructed in a record time of 40 month. It had began production and synchronised with the power grid in first week of July this year.

The capacity generation for COD was made twice in the past but was halted mid-way due to some technical issues. With this, the KTPS total generation capacity said to have reached 2500 MW.
