Lack Of Civic Sense at Gayatri Nagar

Update: 2018-12-29 05:30 IST

Gayatri Nagar: Throwing garbage on roads has always been a big problem in our city. “As we stay every close to the place where garbage is disposed we are facing main problems of stench and pollution. Stinky smell from the garbage is making our lives miserable.

GHMC people clear garbage every day. But by next day garbage bags will be pile up again. This has become a daily routine. People should take up the responsibility of not throwing garbage on roads,” said Suchitra, resident of Gayatri Nagar. “People come and throw garbage near that wall. They feel that it’s a dumping yard.  We can’t sit here whole day and keep telling people not to throw garbage. They should think about the affects of garbage on road side,” Suchitra added.

“People throw spoilt food which smells badly. Animals come and eat that food and fall sick. Animals eat the food along with the plastic. This may cause chocking and other diseases. Disposing garbage on roads will not only affect people but it also affects animals,” said Arvind Kumar, a private employee.  “We come and clean the area everyday and by next day we come garbage will be piled up again. We also can’t sit here throughout the day. We alone can’t make the city clean. We need support from the public also. We can maintain cleanliness only if every one of us comes forward,” said a GHMC worker.
