Missing miner found dead

Warangal: The miner, who was missing from Wednesday, was finally found dead on Friday. The rescue teams of the State-run Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) found R Satyanarayana (50) struck in sand in the Kakatiya Khani KTK-1 Incline underground mine. 

It was a long wait for the miner’s family members, who have been waiting to see him alive but in vain. The police shifted the body to the Bhupalpally area hospital for post-mortem. Singareni Area General Manager Guravaiah said that SCCL will pay Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia to the family members of Satyanarayana, besides a job to one of the dependents. He said that an inquiry would be conducted to find out the reasons for the fiasco.

It may be recalled that Satyanarayana reported to duty as the support man at the barricade in the 11th level of S7 panel, third seem, 36th dip inside the KTK-1 incline on Wednesday morning and never returned.

He was instructed by relay-D over man to control the water leakage on the travelling road of 35th dip. He went missing thereafter. It is suspected that he got washed away in the current of water and sand due to the failure of the barricade in the 11th level.
