SP R Vekateshwarlu seeks public cooperation to curb crimes

Suryapet: Superintendent of Police R Vekateshwarlu here on Friday said the crime rate in the district can be brought down with the people’s cooperation. Speaking to the media here, he said the district police had played a key role in ensuring fair and peaceful Assembly elections in the district.  

A total of 3,810 persons with criminal background were bound over and Rs 1.85 crore unaccounted money was seized. A total of 16 check-posts, including seven inter-state check posts were set up. The police saw to it that 133 weapons were deposited with the police.

The police continue to conduct patrolling regularly, using blue coats, She Teams and cordon and search operations, he said. As many as 550 CCTV cameras were installed across the district under police department “Nenu Sitam” programme. He urged the people to extend their cooperation for establishment of CCTV cameras in their areas to nip crimes in the bud.
