High passenger turnout for Metro on New Year’s Eve
As many as 2.25-lakh passengers travelled on Metro Rail
Hyderabad: It was another landmark for Hyderabad Metro Rail. The decision to extend services beyond the usual timing yielded good results, as 2.25 lakh people used the Metro services on the eve of New Year.
Heavy rush was witnessed at Ameerpet, Miyapur, LB Nagar, Kukatpally Housing Board, JNTU and Uppal stations. Revellers used the services in the evening, and the rush was more between 5 pm and 10:30 pm.
Among all the stations, the highest patronage was registered at Ameerpet Interchange Station with 36,000 passengers.
Sensing heavy rush, Metro officials extended the train services on Monday night. The last train from the terminal stations of Miyapur, LB Nagar and Nagole was operated at 12.00 am in all directions.
Accordingly, the last train at Ameerpet Interchange Station left at 12.30 am in different directions.
