Bahadurpura: The Nehru Zoological Park received an unusually high number of visitors of over 35,000 on the New Year’s Day, creating a record for the current year. According to the Zoo officials, the high turnout of the visitors to the park could be due to the day being a New Year day and because of the last holiday before the schools reopened on January 2.

“The zoo authorities have taken a lot of efforts to manage huge crowds and motivated all the visitors. The staff at the Public Announcement System, battery-operated vehicle drivers, garden-section staff, animal keepers and security personnel took care of their children and their belongings,” said Syed Maqsood Mohiuddin, assistant conservator of forests at Nehru Zoological Park.

A special counter has been opened to restrict the entry of the polythene covers and disposable items into the zoo. Even though the visitors carried more number of disposable items into the zoo, the premises of the zoo were kept clean. Thanks to the visitors for their patronage and wish everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year, Mohiuddin added.
