Musheerabad: Condemning the reduction of BC reservations in panchayat polls from 34 to 22 per cent, the community leaders continued their protest at Dharna Chowk on Sunday. Leaders of various BC associations participated in the protest. National BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of deceiving the Back Classes as soon as he came to power for the second time. While the BCs expected him to increase reservations, instead the CM reduced the existing quota, he lamented. He suggested BC leaders to approach CM KCR and ask him to increase reservations.

Referring to Supreme Court’s ruling, Krishnaiah said that the Court never asked to decrease reservations, but the State government took unilateral decision to reduce reservations. He said that even the neighbouring State conducted elections without reducing reservations. Expressing his apprehensions that the State government would even reduce their reservation in education and jobs as well, he called upon BCs to raise their voice against the government and participate in the agitation. He accused KCR of lack of commitment towards BCs’ issues and warned that the people would teach him a lesson in the upcoming Parliament elections. Among those who were present on the occasion include National BC Welfare Association vice president Gujja Krishna, Leela Venkatesh, D Suresh, Janardhan, Janasamithi leader Professor Vishweshwaraiah and others.
