Musheerabad: Founding president of Kula Nirmulana Sangham and social activist Gandhi demanded that the government enact a special law to protect persons involved in inter-caste and inter-religion marriages. Gandhi said that the inter-caste and inter-religion marriages help in bridging differences in minds of people. He was speaking during a protest in this regard at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park on Monday.

The members of the association said that around 23 cases of caste hatred murders were reported in the state after the formation of the new state. They expressed their unhappiness over the lack of proper response in this regard from the state government. Civil society should come forward and condemn such murders, they said. Expressing their concern over parents murdering their own offspring in the name of caste or religion, they urged parents to end their faulty thinking rather than their own children. Inter-caste marriages bring about healthy progeny, they said. Demands were made for the establishment of fast-track courts to punish those involved in the caste hatred cases with severe punishments. They urged leaders of various political leaders and the CM to respond on the issue and declare killings as social evil.
