KCR sets ball rolling for filling nominated posts
Hyderabad: As a series of elections mainly Lok Sabha, Municipal and other local bodies are fast approaching, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has begun the exercise of filling the nominated posts in his present government which came into being on December 13 last year.
Sensing the help of senior TRS leaders at State and district level is needed to register victory in the forthcoming elections, the Chief Minister is short listing names of the leaders for the post of Chairmen to Corporations, Agricultural Market Committees and other cooperative societies. In a first, senior leader M Srinivas Reddy has been appointed as Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman on Tuesday. Earlier, Peddi Sudarshan Reddy was the chairman of the Civil Supplies Corporation. Sudarshan Reddy was elected from Narsampet in the recent election.
According to sources, the Chief Minister would be making more such appointments in the coming days. The State government has already started the process of bringing the Telangana Parliamentary Secretaries Act to avoid legal hurdles. The TRS government during its first tenure appointed six parliamentary secretaries. However, the High Court struct down the government order and set aside the appointments.
Apart from these, there are some corporation posts which were vacated by the TRS leaders during the election. As per the rule, the contestants had to resign from the nominated posts so as to contest elections. Leaders who resigned include P Ravi (SC Corporation), Prem Singh Rathore (Musi River Development Corporation), Somarapu Satyanarayana (TSRTC), V Prashanth Reddy (Mission Bhagiratha), S Niranjan Reddy (Telangana State Planning Board).
During a meeting of the party leaders in Telangana Bhavan, TRS working president K T Rama Rao also hinted the leaders about the nominated posts. He said that there were elections all the year and added that their work was not finished after the Assembly elections. There is more work to do and the party would reward the leaders with nominated posts.
Sources said that the TRS leadership has asked the party cadre to perform and get rewarded in the form of nominated posts. Sources said that the leaders would be accommodated in various nominated posts. There are about 4,000 nominated posts the market committees, temple committees, libraries etc.
