Parigi: Demanding the completion of road work, villagers, students and women resorted to sit-in protest at Naskal Village in the mandal on Tuesday. They said that their houses and crop fields have been filling with dust due to the pending road works for the last four years. Even food items that they consume also have been accumulating dust, they lamented.

The villagers said that their health is getting ruined because of the pending works. To register their protest in a novel way, they prepared food for lunch on the road. They warned of continuing their agitation until the works get started.

With the agitation getting shriller, Parigi CI, along with officials from roads and buildings department, rushed to the spot and assured to the protesters that the works would start within one week and that water would be showered to avoid the formation of dust till that time.

The villagers called off their protest and warned them they would restart the agitation if the works were not started within one week as assured.
