City police meet off to a colourful start

Hyderabad: The three-day annual sports and games meet of the Hyderabad City Police began at the Shiv Kumar Lal Police Stadium in Goshamahal on Wednesday. The meet was inaugurated by K Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary (Finance). Around 800 staff and officers of City Police are participating in different sports and games events. For the first time, the city police are allowing civilians to participate in the event as a measure of its people-friendly policing. Sports events like athletics, football, volleyball, handball, basketball, hockey, kabaddi, shuttle badminton, judo, wrestling, boxing, gymnastics, lawn tennis and weightlifting will be organized. 

 The Sports meet was set in motion with a colourful march past by the participants. Later speaking at the meet, City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that sports would prove stress-buster and give relief to the cops, as the police officials are under severe work stress in their regular routine. He appealed to all sportsmen and players to maintain sportsman spirit and  take victory and defeat positively. In his address, chief guest K Ramakrishna Rao outlined the importance of both sports and sportsmanship.
