Commuters harried by traffic woes at Alkapuri
Alkapuri: Commuters using Alkapuri Cross Roads have been facing trouble due to traffic jams for the past few months. “Inner ring road is always busy with vehicles. There is a lot of traffic jam in the mornings. Sometimes we have to wait for more than 15 minutes to cross the Alkapuri signal,” said Arjun Sharma, a student.
“Around 8:30 am in the morning when everyone leaves it offices, schools and colleges there will be a lot of traffic jam. I’m starting 15 minutes earlier from my house and I’m still reaching office late. The number of vehicles that commute from this signal has increased. Many people are choosing this way to reach Nagole after the metro rail construction,” said Sri Lakshmi, a private employee.
“I come from Sagar ring road. Because of the flyover construction there will be huge traffic jam in LB Nagar. And just to cross one signal we have to travel for a km and take U-turn. For the past few days traffic jam in Alkapuri has increased. Officials aren’t taking action to control the traffic. There is traffic in the evening time also. It will take me more than 1 hour to reach my home from Alkapuri,” said Mohan, a private lecturer.
“Earlier also there were traffic problems here but they had increased for the past few months. And once the flyover is constructed near Nagole traffic jams will increase here. From Uppal, vehicles can reach Alkapuri very fast because of the flyover and will get struck at the Alkapuri signal. Proper arrangements should be made to control the traffic jams,” said Aditi, a daily commuter.
