Public District System rice diversion gang busted, 3 held

Hyderabad: Central Zone Task Force police along with Civil Supply officials arrested three persons on charge of illegally selling rice meant for public district system (PDS) on Thursday. They seized 25 quintals of PDS rice and one goods carrier vehicle from the arrested.

According to Task Force police, on credible information the police intercepted a vehicle at Ramnagar under Musheerabad police station limits and apprehended three persons, Mohammed Hussain (29), Syed Shujat Ali (22) and Mohammed Thoufiq Hussain (24) while transporting the PDS rice in their vehicle.  

Mohammed Hussain started business by collecting PDS rice from the known and unknown cardholders in Bholakpur, Ramnagar, Musheerabad areas at the rate of Rs 9 a kg with the help of Shujat Ali and Thoufiq Hussain and diverting the same to Bidar in Karnataka. Theysold the rice at Rs 12 a kg and earned illegal profit for the last three months, the police said.
