Sankranthi fete at Regency College
Khairtabad: The Regency College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology organised a food festival on the occasion of Sankranthi. The chefs prepared as many as 100 mouth-watering dishes (Pindivantalu) including arisalu, bobbatlu, sweet pongal, garelru, jantakalu festival starters chegodi, murkulu, ten varieties of pickles, podis, sweets made with jaggery and sesame seeds.
The campus wore a festive look that evoked a village atmosphere. The walls were decorated with toys, food grains, fruits and vegetables, rangoli and kite designs etc. A countryside ambience was created along with bommala koluvu and bonfire.
The students performed traditional dances. Sporting traditional clothes, they took part in kite designing, rangoli and floral rangoli competitions. P Ramesh Kumar Reddy, the principal of the college, said: “Such events encourage togetherness.” Speaking on occasion, actress Nitya Naresh said, “It is good to see the college deciding to celebrate the festival in a traditional manner.”
Director (Human Resources) Ramu Vemulapally and executive chef Shahid Hossain from Taj Krishna, Skal International president, Ganesh Rao and general manager of Ascom Travels and other guests were present.
