Padmashali mela to be held on Jan 26

Musheerabad: Honorary president of Telangana Padmashali Mela Committee, Racha Nagaraju said that Padmashali community mela would be held in Indira Park on January 26. He, along with the members of the committee, was speaking to media here on Sunday. 

New ministers who are yet to assume charge, newly-elected MLAs, office bearers of various political parties, MPs, celebrities are expected to attend the mela, he said. 

Every year, Padmashali community members who earn their livelihood through weaving and manufacturing handloom products, and others of the community who have migrated to the city, gather once in a year at the mela, he said. 

The community is not represented by not even a single MLA although it has good population in the State, he lamented. 

Nagaraju lauded the efforts of the CM KCR and TRS working president KTR for the welfare of labour working in handloom industry. At the community mela, various programmes such as political awareness meetings, community matrimonial fairs and cultural programmes would be held, Nagaraju said. 

A large number of community members are expected to come from the city and its neighbouring districts, he said. President of 2019 Padmashali mela committee, Jairaj, general secretary Bhimanathini Nivas, treasurer Gajula Srihari and others were present on the occasion.
