RTC officer arrested for stealing jewellery bag

Hyderabad: West Zone Task Force sleuths arrested a TSRTC liaison officer for stealing a bag containing ornaments at a temple in the city on Sunday.

According to police, K Sammaiah (50), a liaison officer with TSRTC, Balanagar, committed the theft in front of Yellamma Temple at Balkampet under SR Nagar police station limits. The accused works at Hyderabad Central University bus depot, Gachibowli. The sleuths arrested the accused and recovered 7 tolas of gold ornament, one cell phone from his possession. 

On December 12, he along with his family members had gone to attend a function at Yellamma Temple in Balkampet.  After attending the function, he came to the parking and observed that one bag was kept on his bike. He opened the bag and found that there were some gold ornaments and one cell phone in it.

He immediately took the bag and drove away from the spot along with the bag which contained 7 tolas of gold ornaments including a long chain, necklace, ear tops, finger ring, small chain and small finger rings and one cell phone.  When the accused came to Maithrivanam at Ameerpet on Sunday to sell the stolen property police nabbed him along with stolen property. Police filed a case under section 379 of IPC and handed over the accused to SR Nagar PS for further investigation.
