Results of JEE first slot exams to be announced by Jan-end

Hyderabad: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the results of the just-concluded first slot of JEE Main-2019 examinations by the end of this January.

The five-day Computer Based Test (CBT) first slot of Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE) Main,2019, held from January 8 to 12 was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It had registered attendance of 94 per cent out of about 11 lakh students registered for it.

According to the NTA sources, this was less when compared to the paper-pencil test of JEE Main conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 2018, for which about 12 lakh students registered.

The five-day examinations was held in 467 centres in 258 cities, including nine centres outside India in two shifts. Of a total of 11,09,250 registered candidates, 9,29,198 were registered for paper-I and 1,80,052 for paper-II. According to the post paper analysis, the overall difficulty of the test was moderate to tough, making the experts predict the overall cut-off mark might be around 85 per cent.  

Of the total students appeared nearly 2.5 lakh students are expected to be declared eligible for the second slot of the JEE Main-2019, which would be held in the month of April this year. It may be mentioned here that starting from this year the JEE Main examination is to be held for two times in a year, the first in the month of January and the second slot in the month of April every year.

The students who will qualify in the January examination alone are allowed to appear for the April examinations. The best of the two examinations will be taken into consideration to finalise the final ranks in JEE Main, which will be considered for taking admission into IITs in the country. The NTA is expected to announce the ranks of the just- concluded first slot of JEE Main examination by the end of January.
