Warangal: The students of National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NITW) have successfully designed, fabricated, tested and unveiled their 2019 version of the off-road buggy. NIT Director Prof NV Ramana Rao launched the vehicle on the institute campus here on Thursday.

He said that the students will showcase the buggy at a national-level competition to be held in Pithampur, Indore from January 23 to 27 organised by the Society of Automotive Engineering India.

“Engineering students from all over the country will showcase their models and compete through a series of static design rounds and dynamic tests. The vehicle will be tested thoroughly on the basis of braking distance, acceleration, manoeuvrability, hill climb, rock climb, sledge pull, suspension dynamics and a four-hour long endurance race throughout the 5 day-long events.

Besides having an experience in the technical know-how of real-life automobile industry, the students also get an exposure to the management aspect of a large-scale project,” he said. Mechanical Engineering Department Head of the Department Prof Bangaru Babu was among others present.
