Prod to officials to ramp up green cover on outer ring road

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar asked the officials to stress on increased green cover on both sides of the outer ring road.

He told that cleanliness and beautification should be at par with the stretch on the airport. Kumar along with HMDA officials travelled on the outer ring road from Gachibowli to Shamshabad and instructed the officials to ensure that both sides around the toll gate should be made clean in a couple of days.

Kumar said that the officials should conduct periodic inspections so as to ensure that cleanliness and greenery is maintained all along the outer ring road. Officials were told to ensure that proper sweeping of the main carriageway of ORR, cleaning of entire right way, including removal of trash and debris, slopes, painting of the kerbs, maintenance of medians and illumination of rocks enroute the outer ring road is taken up at the earliest.

The MAUD principal secretary said that fines should be imposed against those who dump trash and debris illegally on the sides of the ORR. Pruning of trees where signages are available and watering of plants all along the road should be taken up regularly. He directed the toll plaza operators to keep the toll plazas clean and to take up beautification with plotted plants within the Toll plaza area.

Chief Engineer HMDA B L N Reddy, Director Urban Forestry Srinivas and Project Director ORR Harinatha Reddy and other officials were present.
