GHMC to intensify cleanliness drive

 Hyderabad: GHMC has decided to conduct various cleanliness programs in Greater Hyderabad with a slogan ‘Saaf Hyderabad-Shandar Hyderabad.’ Already various cleanliness programmes are being conducted to improve the city’s ranking in SwachhSurvekshan survey. 

City Mayor BonthuRammohan and GHMC commissioner Dana Kishore have   decided to extend the same spirit to another six months. Several meetings have already been conducted in this regard with GHMC higher officials, zonal and deputy commissioners, engineers, medical officers and Swachh ward officers and are preparing plan of action for conducting Swachhprogrammmes in the next six months.
 
The Mayor reviewed with theofficials various cleanliness programmes to be taken up in the next six months. The programs include: awareness programs for cleanliness, removal of debris & garbage dumped on roads, dredging of drainage lines, making the city free of open urination and defecation, arranging dust bins for every 50 meters in commercial areas, making city hotels and restaurants which generate more than 100 kg install compost units, ensuring the places of tourism and commercial areas are free of garbage, beautifying junctions and cross roads with gardens and decorations, and levying heavy fines on violators of Swachh regulations.
  
The Mayor and the GHMC Commissioner have already held meetings with various departments which are involved in operation and maintenance works in this regard. The Mayor urged the officials to take stringent measures against violators so that city residents view enforcement officials with a sense of awe, as in the cities of Mumbai and Indore.

 With its innovative initiatives such as Swatch Hyderabad, Swachh Namaskaram, Swachh Sankranthi, Wall of Kindness, and Swachh Doot, GHMC has already made its mark and is now planning to intensify its efforts with the slogan ‘Saaf Hyderabad-Shandaar Hyderabad.
