First phase of Gram Panchayat Elections Today

Vikarabad: All arrangements have been in place for the first phase elections of Gram Panchayats in the district. Elections will be held in seven mandals in Tandur division on Monday. Panchayat committees will be elected in Tandur, Basheerabad, Yalal, Peddemul, Kodangal, Daultabad, Bomraspet.

Officials already sent ballot boxes and election material to these mandals. The election will start at 7 am and end by 1 pm. Counting commences at 2 pm. As many as 1,632 polling centres are arranged for 215 panchayats in seven mandals in Tandur division. The entire process will be given live on webcasting. 

This is useful to find out any disturbances or unwanted situations arise. This webcasting is being carried out in association with BSNL. Village Federation Coordinators are working with tabs. There are 249 Gram Panchayats and 2,106 wards are in the seven mandals of Tandur division.

 As many as 34 Panchayats and 460 wards elected their sarpanches unanimously. 518 contestants are in the fray for sarpanch posts while 3634 candidates are competing for 1632 wards.
