Musheerabad: Kula Nirmulana Samithi held a round-table at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on Monday on banning village development committees that boycotted SCs. The president of the Samithi, Skylab Babu, condemned boycotting of 81 Mala community families by a Village Development Committee (VDC) and demanded the government to file SC/ST atrocity cases against the members of VDC members of Marampally Village.

Babu lamented that even SC/ST Commission member B Ramulu was insulted by them when he visited the village, and that the government took no action against them. He alleged that the boycotted families are being denied essential services in the villages, and that the families are feeling insecure. What right does VDCs have to punish people? he questioned.

He demanded that SC/ST cases be filed against police and revenue officials who failed to take any action against offenders. Namaste Telangana editor S Veeraiah, state president Mala Mahanadu Bathula Ramprasad, CPM leader Mahender Ramulu, ST leader Dharma Naik, Vijay and others participated in the round table conference.
